About Cat Care...

Cat Care was formed in 2006 by four like-minded people who identified the need for a local welfare organisation specifically for felines in North Canterbury. The organisation became both an Incorporated Society and Registered Charity in 2010.

Our Mission is to relieve the distress and suffering of stray and abandoned cats and kittens found in North Canterbury by taking them in for assessment, providing appropriate medical assistance and treatment including that for fleas and worms; all our cats are socialised, de-sexed, first-vaccinated and microchipped before being re-homed to the household which is the best fit for both parties, human and feline.

Any cat which tests positive for Feline Aids is humanely euthanased to help prevent the further spread of this terrible disease.

We have available for hire:

Humane traps to assist in catching a cat

• Carry cages for transporting your pet

• Collapsible crates for secure confinement (ideal for post-surgery recovery)

Please note: Before trapping, have a plan in place for a successful result.

Cat Care can advise, but as we have no shelter accommodation, NO  responsibility for any cat trapped by the public

Cat Care is run by dedicated volunteers, all of whom give their time for free. We receive no central funding and rely totally on income from adoption fees, fundraising and the generosity of the donating public.
